Skeema 0.2.9: Faster new tab page, cleaner clips UI, hide clipping button, and search open tabs

Faster new tab page

After our Product Hunt launch, one of the most requested features was reducing the new tab page loading speed. We worked hard to reduce the loading speed by more than 40% ⚡️! More improvements coming.

Cleaner clips UI

Skeema helps you easily clip pieces of information on a webpage into your Clips pane, which you can then add to any item or project. This can remind you what the tabs are about, or see all the collected information in one place.

We re-designed the clips UI to be cleaner, more compact, and visually appealing. If you haven’t, please try out the clipping tool (here are some tips for how to use clipping).

Disable the clipping button on specified pages

The blue clipping button on the right of a page can be a quick way to help you capture what you need from a page, but can be distracting on some sites, e.g. when watching a YouTube video. You can now disable the clipping button on specified pages in Settings on the left-side pane

Search open tabs

You can now search all your open tabs across all your windows! When you want to find a tab — to close, save, or jump to it — just start typing in the search bar in the right-side pane.

Our most requested feature is now here! When you want to find something — a tab, an item, or a clip you saved — just start typing in the search bar at the top.

• See your projects, tabs, items, and clips and click to jump to them right away
• You can search in your favorite search engine too so everything is in one place.

A Calm Start Page

Sometimes seeing all your todos and tabs whenever you open a new tab page can be overwhelming. That’s why we are introducing a calm start page.

• Calm your mind with a new inspiring photo.
• See pinned projects even when the left-hand sidebar is collapsed to help you remember important projects you are working on.
• Easily access your projects, tabs, and clips by hovering over the sidebars. You can always expand the sidebars to pin them on the side.
• Skeema resurfaces a random To-Read item each time you open a new tab, giving you another chance of getting back to it someday.

IMPROVEMENTS

• On-hover menu: If you hover over an item it is highlighted so it is clear which item the on-hover menu belongs to.
• Improved Clipping:
  • Fixed Skeema clipping button showing up on clicking Google doc menus.
  • Fixed the issue of copying a clip to the clipboard in the Gallery view.

Skeema 0.2.7: Revamped Interface and Collaboration

Revamped Interface

We redesigned the interface to be cleaner and more efficient and intuitive, with some highlights including:

• Quick Find is now faster, more powerful, and more accurate.
• Faster inline editing of item name and notes.
• Quickly change status and priority by clicking on the bullet (no more accidental trashing!).
• Revamped the on-hover menu to be cleaner and easier to access, with access to all the options a click away.
• See everything inside an item even when it’s closed with new sub-item favicon previews.

Collaboration

One of the most-requested features is now here! Invite others to collaborate on your Skeema projects by sending them an editor link or adding their email address.

• Enable either read-only or editable links that you can send to collaborators and invite them to Skeema.
• Collaborators can add and change items, notes, clips, and set priorities with their changes updated in real-time.
• How it works

IMPROVEMENTS

• Switch to Open Tab: Now if your tab is already open you can quickly switch to it from the right-side Tab pane instead of having to reopen it.
• Improved Clipping:
  • Fixed the text clipping button showing up in text fields.
  • Fixed the issue of triple-click to select an entire paragraph or sentence.
  • Changed the size and the position of the text clipping button.
  • Added options to enable or disable clipping in settings.
• UI changes: Many small things including minor visual misalignment of items, improvements to drag and drop and reordering, cleaning up extra visual items, and many more.
